PalStream ("we," "our," or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data when you use the PalStream application on iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and tvOS.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

• Playlist Data: IPTV playlist URLs (M3U, XMLTV, Xtream) that you add to the app. These are stored locally on your device and optionally synced via iCloud.
• Favorites & Groups: Your custom favorite groups, watchlists, and content organization preferences.
• Settings & Preferences: Your app configuration, subtitle preferences, parental control settings, and playback preferences.

1.2 Information Generated by Your Use

• Watch History: Records of content you've viewed, including resume positions, timestamps, and playback progress. This data is stored locally and optionally synced via iCloud.
• Search History: Your search queries within the app, stored locally for suggestion purposes.
• Category Metadata: Your browsing preferences and category sorting choices.

1.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect personal identification information (name, email, phone number) through the app.
• We do not collect analytics, crash reports, or usage telemetry.
• We do not track your location.
• We do not collect or store any financial information.
• We do not access your contacts, photos, or other personal data.

2. How We Use Your Information

All data collected is used solely to provide the app's core functionality:

• Playback & Resume: To remember where you left off in movies, series, and live channels.
• Content Organization: To maintain your favorites, groups, and personalized content layout.
• iCloud Sync: To synchronize your playlists, favorites, watch history, and preferences across your Apple devices using Apple's CloudKit framework.
• Search Suggestions: To offer relevant search suggestions based on your previous queries.
• Parental Controls: To enforce content restrictions you have configured.

3. Data Storage & Sync

3.1 Local Storage

Your data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This includes playlists, watch history, favorites, and all preference settings.

3.2 iCloud Sync

When iCloud is enabled on your device, the following data is synced via Apple's CloudKit private database:

• Playlists and playlist configurations
• Watch history and resume positions
• Favorite groups and items
• Protected and hidden items (parental controls)
• Category metadata and preferences

This data is stored in your personal iCloud account and is encrypted by Apple both in transit and at rest. We do not have access to your iCloud data. You can disable iCloud sync in your device's system settings.

3.3 Incognito Mode

PalStream offers an Incognito Mode that, when enabled, suppresses all history writes, search suggestions, and Top Shelf content updates. No viewing data is recorded while Incognito Mode is active.

4. Third-Party Services

PalStream integrates with the following optional third-party services. These integrations are user-initiated and can be disabled at any time:

4.1 Trakt (Optional)

If you choose to connect your Trakt account, PalStream will:

• Authenticate via Trakt's secure OAuth device-code flow.
• Send watch history (scrobbles) to your Trakt account.
• Retrieve your Trakt watch history for cross-app resume functionality.

Your Trakt authentication token is stored securely on your device. Please review Trakt's Privacy Policy for details on how Trakt handles your data.

4.2 TMDB (The Movie Database)

PalStream uses TMDB's API to enrich content with metadata, including posters, backdrops, ratings, and descriptions. No personal data is shared with TMDB.

4.3 OpenSubtitles (Optional)

If you use the subtitle download feature, PalStream connects to OpenSubtitles to search for and download subtitle files. Subtitle language preferences are stored locally.

4.4 IPTV Providers

PalStream connects to IPTV servers that you configure via your playlist URLs. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy practices, or data handling of third-party IPTV providers. You are responsible for ensuring you have proper authorization to access the content provided through your playlists.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your personal data with third parties. Your data stays on your device and in your personal iCloud account.

6. Data Retention

Your data is retained on your device and in your iCloud account for as long as you use the app. You can delete your data at any time by:

• Removing playlists, favorites, or history within the app.
• Deleting the app from your device.
• Managing your iCloud storage through Apple's system settings.

7. Children's Privacy

PalStream is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. PalStream provides parental controls to help parents manage what content is accessible within the app.

8. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data:

• All iCloud data is encrypted by Apple in transit and at rest.
• Parental control passcodes are stored securely on-device.
• Biometric authentication (Face ID / Touch ID) is used where available for parental controls.
• Third-party authentication tokens are stored securely on your device.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: View all data stored by the app on your device.
• Delete: Remove any or all data stored by the app.
• Portability: Export your playlist configurations.
• Opt-out: Disable iCloud sync, Trakt integration, or any optional feature at any time.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
